There may be moments throughout this process where you have questions or need support. Feel free to contact me! I will listen to you and do my best to help you.
Throughout my studies and work, I have acquired some great books covering a broad spectrum of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting. All of these books are available to be borrowed by my clients if desired.
We will have at least one home visit to discuss your birth preferences and build on our relationship. You may also want to familiarize me with your surrounds. A home visit typically lasts about an hour. If you want to schedule more visits for me to come over, that’s fine too! Maybe you want more face to face support or have a lot of questions you’d like to share with me in person. We can make arrangements to suit your needs.
Whether you want me to accompany you to a visit with your Care Provider for emotional support, or you want to meet with your entire birth team all together before the big day, I am here for you!
You may not know how you want your labor and birth to go. That’s totally fine. We can get together and discuss your preferences. I’ll help you make a plan that suits you.
Having the skills to provide CPR or First Aid to someone, even if it is never needed, it is still a comfort. I have trained through The American Heart Association and am certified to teach CPR and other basic life support techniques.
My main job is to support you on your Birth day. Initially this will be over the phone, with you letting me know that contractions have started or maybe asking me what it feels like for your bag of waters to break. When it’s time, I will join you at your birth location and offer a variety of support. This can take the form of massage, advise, advocacy, and cheering you on! Once your baby is in your arms, I will stick around for a few hours to make sure everything is wrapping up smoothly, after which I will leave you to that mom life.
Postpartum Doula work is really in its own category. This stage of life is hugely impactful, but usually under-prepared for. I will come see you, bring you food if you need it, listen to you sort through your birth experience, watch your baby while you take a nap or a shower, help you fold a load of laundry, and give you pointers on adjusting to your new family, and help you find useful resources during this pivotal time.
Since I’ve seen a birth or two and I’m already joining you for your birthing experience, I am in a prime spot to grab some labor, birth, and postpartum photographs! Photography can take as small or big a role as you want for your birth, but I guarantee you will cherish these photos for a lifetime.
